A-Z Challenge – Chivalrous Chap

chandra-Shekhar-Azad-502x600C – The great chivalrous chap – Chandra Shekhar Azad

This man holds a great place among other freedom fighters. This man who was very close with Bhagat Singh involved in Kakori Train Robbery along with Ashfaqulla Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil, Bhagat Singh, Shukdev and Rajguru.

He also participated in Saunders murder. The murder which was an attempt to revenge Lala Lajpat Rai’s murder…

Chandrashekhar Azad was deeply troubled by the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. When Mahatma Gandhi launched Non-Cooperation movement, Chandrasekhar Azad actively participated in revolutionary activities. He received his first punishment at the age of 15.What was I doing at that age? Studying … without any thoughts about this society.. Shame on me…

Chandra Shekhar was caught while indulging in revolutionary activities. When the magistrate asked him his name, he said “Azad” (meaning free). Chandrashekhar Azad was sentenced to fifteen lashes. With each stroke of the whip the young Chandrasekhar shouted “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. .

When the non cooperative movement was suspended, Azad along with Bhagat Singh distanced themselves from the paths of Gandhi.. (I wish people see Gandhi’s true colors like Bhagat Singh and others did.. seriously…) They were more attracted towards aggressive and violent revolutionary ideals..

This is when Azad with Bhagat Singh and other compatriots like Sukhdev and Rajguru, formed the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HRSA). HRSA was committed to complete Indian independence and socialist principles for India’s future progress.

This is the time, the British wanted badly to catch Azad. They wanted to catch him either alive or dead and to vanquish him… Can we understand how important his role was in the freedom struggle?? The man gave the thirst to the British to capture him which didn’t happen at all…

But always in our life we are surrounded by people who backstab us or betray us… This happened in Azad’s life too.. The man whom Azad has thought his friend betrayed him.. When Azad was meeting his friends, this was reported to the British Police.. the police surrounded and asked Azad to surrender. Azad fought alone and valiantly and killed three policemen but after nearly exhausting his shots and foreseeing no means of escape, he shot himself in the head with his last bullet. Remember he vowed himself that he would never be captured by the police and would die a free man.. Those are the period when people kept to their promises…

With Azad and Bhagat Singh all the revolutionaries were finished, I think. None who came after them stood a chance to be like them. Forget to be like them, not even to follow their steps..

The next time the British faced a fierce problem/ revolution was with a much more developed and well organised army then lead by none other than the Netaji – Subhash Chandra Bose, an vehement supporter of Azad and Bhagat Singh…

Let’s hope we will follow his steps towards greater India!!! “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
